Why this workshop?

Creating meaningful change takes hard work. You want to care for everyone’s needs without getting stuck in endless discussions. But meetings and conversations can drag on until people give up, settle for a compromise, or just follow the loudest voices. Voting can get things moving, but often leaves some people feeling unheard.

Integration offers another way: turning disagreement into a shared problem we can solve together. It’s especially useful when things get complicated, emotions run high, and people have very different ideas about what to do.

In this workshop, you’ll experience how focusing on what matters to people can save time and bring people closer together. Understanding the needs behind people’s positions builds trust, opens up new possibilities, and helps you find decisions that everyone will support.

Learn practical skills that you can use in any conversation and connect with others who share your passion for a more collaborative future.

A democracy is not a structure. It’s a society of people who feel connected and empowered to care for each other and our ecosystems.

Is this workshop for you?

Anyone who wants to contribute to a future that cares for all life is welcome. Participants are often involved in climate action, environmental justice, grassroots organizing, social movements, community groups, and activist networks. You do not need any previous leadership or facilitation experience, just a passion for responding to the crises of our times, without top-down control and without needing to agree on everything.

What to expect

A bit of theory, some short demonstrations, lots of practice, and real-plays: like a role-play, except you play yourself, working on real challenges from your own experience. Between activities there is room for reflection and connection.

We plan to show and practice how to:

• listen for what really matters to people behind opinions and positions
• find common ground with allies and opponents
• bring in diverse voices without getting stuck
• start creating new habits in your groups and daily life

What we ask of you

• Register early. It supports our planning and spaces are limited.
• Arrive on time and stay for the whole workshop. The group builds connection and experience together.
• Come with an open mind. Try new things and offer others your curiosity.
• Care for yourself and your limits. Choose how to participate and ask for what you need.
• Bring an example (optional). Think of a simple yet difficult decision, disagreement, or challenge from your life that you are open to sharing. We practice with real life situations.

Practical details

• Date: November 7-8, 2026
• Schedule: 9:30 to 18:00 both days. Doors open at 9:00.
• Location: University of Hamburg, Von-Melle-Park 5, 20146 Hamburg
• Language: English, with German support available for practice .
• Food: The organizing team is not providing food. You can connect with others if you want to organize a community lunch. This is another opportunity to practice integrative decisions!
• Accessibility: The location is nearly barrier-free, with just one step at the room entrance (a wheelchair ramp may be available). An accessible toilet is available on the 2nd floor, which can be reached by elevator.
• Funding: Join us in moving away from capitalism and sharing money based on needs! Gifting us money and participating in this workshop are not related. Learn more about our approach to gifting.

Who we are

Integration Station facilitates and supports community learning and action, with a focus on collaborative leadership, integrative decisions, systemic change, inner transformation, and nonviolent conflict resolution. With each interaction that truly cares for everyone, no matter how small, we help build a more connected, peaceful, and sustainable future for all life.

Focusing on integration

Many approaches support collaboration. Integration draws on principles of nonviolence and an orientation to needs to move quickly without leaving people behind. We don’t look for consensus or dialogue on every decision, and no one is forced, overruled, or outvoted.

Inviting diverse perspectives

We don’t lecture or preach. We create a space for community learning, exploring together how to bring principles of nonviolence to life in your specific context. We welcome your ideas, disagreements, scepticism, and requests.

Orienting to gifting

We offer all of our workshops on a gift basis as a small step toward a needs-based economy. We ask for financial support to help cover our costs and make our events sustainable.

Teaching from experience

Our facilitators bring diverse perspectives from years of work with large organizations, small groups, and activist movements.
